WF4.jpg

Some hand held images of moving water. No tripod with me at the time so I thought I would push my luck. Very low light levels as in a small high sided canyon type place. (ravine)

Taken with Canon EOS 10D + Canon 24-85 USM lens. :clap :scratch

Sometimes you just have to get in and do it, not ideal without a tripod or mono but I took about 10 frames of each on the offchance of getting a reasonable shot. Get out and shoot it. Thanks for your comments. Ian thumb.gif

Are you sure Seneca? This ain't Texas - I believe I see some ice alongside the water in the second shot - B-r-r-r-r!

Looks like you had a pretty seady hand on these, Ian! clap.gif looking at the water blur, I'd guess about 1/8 to 1/4 sec on the first, and maybe 1/15 or 1/25 on the second , depending on focol length - am I close?mwink.gif

If this the original jpg, you've lost some hilights in the water on the 2nd shot, or maybe it happened in post-processing. If it was raw, you can get 'em back. In PS, a contrast mask might be helpful, if you know how to do that.

The branch in the first shot is distracting, but I imagine you didn't put it there on purpose, but that the terrain left you no other choice. You could also try upping the saturation a bit on this one for better color.

This looks like volcanic rock - basalt most likely, and it doesn't look like I imagine England to be. Was this in Scotland or Ireland? Thanks for sharing them!

Both images taken in KODAK RAW TIFF and can be reworked. The images themselves were taken in a part of the UK called Yorkshire. This area is mainly composed of limestones and gritstone. I have noted your suggestion and when I get the opportunity will rework the images and see what happens. Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.
