Here are some Close up shots of some car models I played at taking close-up photos of. I used both a 17-40 zoom and a 70-200 zoom (both Canon L f4), and used an extension tube (12m) on my 5D.
I used a 580ex flash off camera with a plastic dome cover and a reflector. added some small christmas lights for catch light.

Just on composition- think the shots would look better if there is more space in front of the car than behind so main subject is off centre with some room to move.

Nice lot Jim, and I'm so glad to see you have removed the dust from your cars before you began shooting them folks often forget those tiny dust particles show up very clearly when you doing Macro work.
