First attempt at large bird
I was working outside at my cabin last Sunday when I looked up and spotted two large birds circling slowly overhead. I ran in, grabbed my camera, and started shooting. Even at full zoom (only 300mm), they were a bit out of reach.
It was mid-day and I was directly under them (i.e.: I should've tweaked the exposure comp up a wee bit). This is the only shot that came out even marginally worthwhile (and it's on the low side of marginally worthwhile).
I'm guessing it's a turkey vulture but if anybody that knows birds knows a better answer, please chime in.

Looks like a Turkey Vulture, they have that distinct pinky baldy head
(no offense to sunburnt bald headed people )
I got to see a tree full of them on time in Ohio but I stood on a branch and they all took off before I could even lift my camera to my face
Thanks for sharing..... Skippy

I would say that you need a +0.7 adjustment for that shot. Definitely a turkey vulture.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
That was my guess but by the time it dawned on me, they'd moved on (and I had to get back to the stuff I was supposed to be fixing). Next time...
Thanks for the kind words everybody.
Nice! My turkey vulture shots never really turn out. They always need so much contrast because they are so black!
