I discovered something pretty cool and I thought I'd share it with you.
Let me know what you think.

It's a unique way to present your picture. I wouldn't want to cut up my pictures like that though. mwink.gif:D

I gotta tell you I spend my time setting up a shot so its not obscured by vegetation or other distarctions from the subject. To take all that time and then to put in the things I was avoiding while taking the shot into the pic during my post work seems counter -intuitive to me.

First, I am a photographer for a living, not for fun.

How many people here make their living from photography and actually produce a great income and how many are starving artists or do it just for fun?

This is what you call a saleable print!

    How do I know?

The last three families I photographed and made one of these for ordered it.

Plus, I was able to charge more for it on account of special effects.

I don't mean to rain on the parade of any starving artists or those in it for the hobby but, a print that has all the ribbons in a photo contest is not usually a saleable print that regular customers would pay good money for.

    Cheers,
    Mike V

I agree with you on that one. Highest art? probably not, but are you selling to the highest artists? again, probably not. I like it.

Obviously you know what works for you and your clientele. Good onya! We should be so lucky.

    Peace

    Hey Mike,

You didn't ask if we thought it was saleable you asked us " Let me know what you think" and that's what we did.

The fact that its saleable doesn't surprise me after pet rocks, gia pets, and
    the Olsen twins.

I've attended quite a few "art fairs" in my neck of the woods. I've seen some stunning work by photographers and other artists get passed up by folks scarfing up knitted animal head golf club covers and bird houses made out of popsicle sticks.

Now if you want my reaction to your sale, I say fantastic and congrats on your good fortune. But if you are gonna ask me what I think I'm gonna tell you :nah

Sorry, Harry you are right. I typed one thing and meant another.

    I caused confusion because I wasn't clear.

    Sorry again,
    Mike

No problem Mike. We have lots of folks here trying to get a start in selling their stuff and your experience can be really valuable. I'm looking forward to hearing more from ya.

I do primarily equine photography, and while I think what you did is kinda cute and an interesting way to turn a snapshot of a dirty horse, in a field suffering from our recent bad weather, all while going to the bathroom; it's not really something I see as extremely marketable.

Then again I'm a big fan of the OOB thread. And, I do know that a well done OOB DOES have it's place in ads, magazines (covers and stories), but again I don't see it as a particularly lucrative stand alone print either and I still spend way too much time playing with it. :)
