Pop Art Type Stuff
so i just learned how to do this in photoshop and it was fun, i think i will do some more. what do you think of it? (keep in mind that it was my first one) thanks!
(oh, and i know the original is too light... i pumped up the brightness when i was making the lines so i could see them better)
i also still have to do some slight fixing up on the neck and face. but i will let you look now. :-D.
*edit*
i made another one... only this one is of me.

hey, yeah... sorry i ment to put that in but forgot, i got it from this:
http://www.melissaclifton.com/tutorial-popart.html
she also has a lot of really cool other tutorials that are fun to play with.
you guys should try it out and tell me how you like it.
I tried this and couldnt get it to work! the tutorial broke down where you copy the 'dots' layer as a new document convert to greyscale and then bitmap and choose halftone, my image wouldnt go halftone just stayed solid black and white!

it has been working for me... i dont know, try again i guess?
I thought I'd post my results and share my experience for others who want to give this a go...
- Use a VERY well exposed photo! something with even lighting and subtle shadows everywhere will really give you a nice result. The photo I used was exposed "properly" and I even lightened it, as Jamism suggested right off the bat, but there were still deep dramatic shadows on the face which just turned into black.
- if your working with a higher res photo (200px as opposed to the 72px in the tute) you need to accordingly increase the bitmap halftone. She suggests 12 lines/in, I ended up with 36.
- other than that, pretty straightforward.
and my results, cool, but definitely too dark/lost detail
The next step to the line-art was too big for me last night. While the skill level involved isn't that high, this is definitely a time-consuming technique, so be ready (but it'll be fun )
Thanks Jamism!
hey, for the dark/lost detail thing... once you get the line art part done, which dose take time, just drop the opacity on each of the "Dots" layers . it tells you about it at the end of the thing.
glad you like it.

yeah, the thing with that is that the line art part takes time... like said above. but i have been wanting to, just been really busy.:wow.
