so i just learned how to do this in photoshop and it was fun, i think i will do some more. what do you think of it? (keep in mind that it was my first one) thanks!

(oh, and i know the original is too light... i pumped up the brightness when i was making the lines so i could see them better)

i also still have to do some slight fixing up on the neck and face. but i will let you look now. :-D.

I tried this and couldnt get it to work! the tutorial broke down where you copy the 'dots' layer as a new document convert to greyscale and then bitmap and choose halftone, my image wouldnt go halftone just stayed solid black and white!

    I didn't have any issues either ne_nau.gif

I thought I'd post my results and share my experience for others who want to give this a go...

    - Use a VERY well exposed photo! something with even lighting and subtle shadows everywhere will really give you a nice result. The photo I used was exposed "properly" and I even lightened it, as Jamism suggested right off the bat, but there were still deep dramatic shadows on the face which just turned into black.

    - if your working with a higher res photo (200px as opposed to the 72px in the tute) you need to accordingly increase the bitmap halftone. She suggests 12 lines/in, I ended up with 36.

    - other than that, pretty straightforward.

and my results, cool, but definitely too dark/lost detail

The next step to the line-art was too big for me last night. While the skill level involved isn't that high, this is definitely a time-consuming technique, so be ready (but it'll be fun :D)

    Thanks Jamism! thumb.gif

hey, for the dark/lost detail thing... once you get the line art part done, which dose take time, just drop the opacity on each of the "Dots" layers . it tells you about it at the end of the thing.

    glad you like it. :D

I like it, but only if you shoot a bunch and turn them into a comic, with dialogue.

yeah, the thing with that is that the line art part takes time... like said above. but i have been wanting to, just been really busy.:wow.
