My keywords don't work, am I doing it wrong?

Hello everyone, I am relatively new to the community but have started trying to get my site going here on smugmug but am running into a bit of a problem.

I have already uploaded photos to my site at http://timsamples.smugmug.com/ and over the past week have been typing in several keywords for each of my photos. An example is in my gallery of Frontier Airlines photos found here http://timsamples.smugmug.com/gallery/2342632

I used the bulk keyword tool and typed in keywords using the quotation method such as "frontier airlines" "airbus" "a319" and so on. They seem to take as I can see them below the images but my problem is that when I go to smugmug's homepage and type in frontier airlines in the search field, none of my photos or galleries come up anywhere.

Am I doing something wrong with keywords? Any help/advise out there?

Thank you

When I go to that gallery and search for frontier airlines, 9 images come up. When I go to SmugMug's homepage and search for frontier airlines (it takes me here: http://www.smugmug.com/search/index.mg?searchWords=frontier+airlines&searchType=global&x=0&y=0
) the same 9 images come up.

Am I missing your question? ne_nau.gif

Yeah, but none of those 9 images that show up on the search are any of my 21 images of Frontier Airlines.

The way I understand keywords is that they are supposed to make your images searchable right?

I thought that if I wrote in "frontier airlines" in the keywords for one of my photos, then when someone types in "frontier airlines" in the search box, all the photos with "frontier airlines" in the keywords will then come up?

I guess my real question is how do I get my 21 images to come up on that list with the those other 9 images? At the moment it seems, my photos are unsearchable?

Welcome to the mystery of keywording with Smugmug

Your images are, indeed, there (now you have 27)....rather than the "search" box, plug the following in you browser's URL line:

    http://timsamples.smugmug.com/keyword/frontier+airlines

As to why they do not show up on a "search" box, you will undoubtedly be advised (correctly, it turns out) to be patient. For whatever reason, indexing sometimes takes place instantaneously, and sometime it takes " a little (a lot) longer".....no idea why...I'm not a tech head. But they will show up.

I've noticed that the "user" search and "Gallery" searches take place in a matter of seconds, but the "photos" search seems at times to take up to several minutes. Again, no clue as to why, but that has been my experience.

Ok, thanks. I guess I was expecting to be able to type in a keyword on the photo and it be instantly searchable by using that word.

Any guess on how long should I expect it to take for the keywords to actually start working?

Thanks again though, I think I need more patience.
