SmugMug Keeps Crashing on Me?

Very frequently when I'm on my SmugMug account, posting pictures to internet forums, my page will lock up and I lose my internet connection? I am able to reconnect instantly, but I will have lost all of my editorial and photo hosting and have to start over. This sometimes will happen repeatedly. Log on, lock up, crash, repeat...........?

I have never encountered this problem on any other internet site, only SmugMug? This has only been a minor nuisance to me before, but I intend to open a Pro Account and do more uploading and working with SmugMug. I don't need this continued frustration.

I have a satellite internet connection that also provides me with extremely slow upload speeds. I am thinking of switching to DSL, but don't know if this will solve my crashing problem?

Any thoughts?

Satallite connections are notorious for this type of behavior. They aren't always stable. It would be useful if you ran a line quality test, there's a free one here:

share the link when you are done.

I'll second that. Satallite transmissions have a delay because of the uplink/downlink distance. When you are working in a semi-connected state like uploading photos then you can easily have problems. You normally won't experience this behavior when just browsing the internet however.

I'm on a Not-So-Hot DSL connection myself. Though I'm not loosing connections, sometimes I think I could burn a CD and walk it to the destination before my DSL allows.

Basically there are MANY factors that come into play. Smugmug is there and very seldom does it have any issues and I've never seen it crash.

Good Luck and keep up posted. Maybe all together we can find a resolution.

Hi, that doesn't look horrible. Have you got security or firewall software that might be in the way?

Safari. I have not tried anything else.

Again, I am only having this problem with my SmugMug website, nowhere else.

    Thanks

Sounds like you need to do some basic maintenance on your Mac.

I thought it was just ME! My Safari crashes too!!! Just on Smugmug...nothing else. It usually happens to me when I go clicking around on my images (thankfully not too many times when I've uploaded). I never had this problem with my other Macs...just my little eMac (but I love him anyway). It's very frustrating though, whatever it is!!!!
I'm switching to cable next week, so mable that'll make a difference. Who knows????ne_nau.gif
