Christmas Portrait from a P&S

My gf's family asked me to do some low key portraits for them. I felt great that someone asked me to take pictures to be given as a gift. After a little hesitation on my part (due to only having a simple Point 'n Shoot camera), here is one we came up with, enjoy:

    Too much headspace, and I feel like the horizon cuts his neck..

    I do like the framing. It could also use some pop and it seems a bit underexposed.

    Good points! I realized there was a tad too much headspace and thought the framing could rectify it. I agree, though.

    too bad about the horizon, i would've liked the picture much more if it weren't for that.

    I think it's pretty good as it is - composition wise.

    If the horizen was different then the border would not work - it does a good job of dancing up the image - I think it's a nice effect for this shot.

    I think it's a beautiful shot, the only thing that is distracting for me is the horizon. It's still a very nice shot, just wish the horizon was not running thru her head.
