Read your manual. Less typing for us, same amount of reading for you.

Jeffro is right. Read The Manual.

But in short, "parameters" are settings YOU can make. Sharpness, color, contrast. And more. Depending on the camera. Your RebelXT has various parameters you can set it to. Experiment. Use them. Record what you take a pic of with EACH parameter. And then you will know.

    I corrected your thread title.

Finally - Dgrin is an AMAZINGLY giving place. But if you ask not-so-thorough questions like this, people WON'T answer, because you are being so vague. Be detailed, thoughtful, and use lots of words. You will get better help that way.

Just a few tips on how to get the most out of Dgrin.

headscratch.gif Use lots of words? I think I like this place. Normally I'm told I use way too many words! :giggle :giggle :giggle

Don't push it now... if you shoot RAW, it doesn't matter what the parameters are set at (they don't get used because the camera doesn't do the conversion to jpg).

I don't think our user here is ready for that, yet. deal.gif

Some of the RAW converters do use "some" of the information in the parameters settings to perform a "standard" conversion as a starting point, similar to what the camera does internally. That may be what sirsloop was referring to.

RAW is nice for difficult lighting or extremes in exposure or for processing subtle tones, but I still shoot a great plenty in JPG. I love choices and options.
