My best eagle shot ever.
I have waited for years to get one like this.
Even though I could think of a few things I could do to make a bit better.
I like the way it is from the camera.

This is almost a 100% crop. I used about 1300 pixels and made them into 1024 on the long side.

The camera, Canon XTi with a Canon 400L f5.6 lens handheld.

Great shot and great that you feel so good about it. We all love that feeling - its what brings us all back, always getting better!

    Congrats!

    Thanks folks.

    I almost named this thread:

I was taking a picture of a fish...
but this darn eagle got in the way. :D

If only the 2 shots before this one turned out.
An immature eagle dove for the same fish and missed it.
The mature grabbed it a quarter of a second later.
Both shots that I tried at the immature, the camera/lens/me focused
    on the shore.

But I at least I got one out three. I'm a happy person today.:D

It's a beautiful shot! You should be proud of it.

May I ask where it was taken?

Wow! A friend of mine used to live out that way and I had the opportunity
to visit in the March time frame. I sure wish I'd known about the refuge
    then.

    Thanks!

    Great shot
Dave --- This shot has a lot going for it: the mottled, low-angle winter light, the composition of the eagle in the frame, the water droplets flying, the background... They all give a great feel for the season, the habitat, and and what's happening. Very nice --- John
