Recent PC Magazine issue pointed me to this interesing piece of software, called What's Running (www.whatsrunning.net).
It shows processes, modules, services, drivers and even IP connections (all real time) and allows to make the "snapshots" and compare them later.
It even directs to the online info if you have some concerns about a process or driver.

Very nice way to look under the hood of your Windows system! :thumb

I used this the other day to find out about a process. Turned out to be a
    Skype related thing.

    Pretty cool.

    You might already have this
If you have Spybot S&D, go into advanced mode > and turn on Process List. System Startup can make snapshots.

Also, for a less useful tool, Windows Task Manager.

Also, current Services can be found through the Control Panel -> Admin Configurations (?) or Computer Management, something like that. Then into Services. Removing unecessary services is a very backdoor way to speed up your PC, but it works.
