Metal Framed Colour Trannies

A long story>

3 years ago my parents moved from one end of Australia to live with us in their twilight years. Unfortunatly, my mother contracted Alzhiemers and a few months later my father died.

As they lived with us, they also brought 2 truck loads of their belongings, mostly antiques.

I have just gone through a few trunks and I came across 4 boxes of 100 metal framed 35mm colour trannies of my Grandfathers (Aluminium). I have not had a good look yet, but they all seem to be from the 50's as all other slides I have seen have cardboard frames and the oldest would be from the early 60's.

I will post some when I get them scanned.

Has anyone else seen metal frames trannies, these are the first I have even heard of.

    Really interesting.

It looks like my Grandfather and Grandmother had a round the world boat trip in the mid 50's

I have a shot of the San Fransisco Bridge with a 1956 Chev!

New York street shots, Manhattan Island from the Empire State Building, London. Paris, Vence and boat life with all the glorious clothes and cars of the time.

I never knew he went they did it.

Some 35mm slides were framed in cardboard, some in aluminum, and some in plastic.

Depended on where the processing was done and by whom. I think Al and plastic were usually not Kodak processing.

Hope you can scan and post a few. Sounds really interesting.

BTW, my mother was from Perth, so I speak Australian. I couldn't for the life of me think of what "trannies" were until I read your thread. Good on ya, mate. thumb.gif
