Cancun Mexico
I guess this is my first and hopefully not my last entry into Journeys.
Summary:
Had a great trip there from the 6th to the 13th.
Day 1 was long. Walking through the airport got suckered into a timeshare presentation for the Royal Sunset Hotel. Then took forever to get our rental. But Delta treated us excellent. From VIP checkin and boarding to first off luggage. I hope they don't get bought out.
Day 2 which was just supposed to be a free breakfast and tour, we got a great breakfast, nice tour of the Royal Sunset and Sunset Lagoon and boat ride out of the deal, but their presentation was a lil frustrating. We were ready to go and they kept sending us to the last resort salesman with yet another unbeatable deal. The last deal was so good I almost croaked, but we just wanted to get some sun at that point... They should've presented that to us in the first place. They make a mint off of unsuspecting purchasers - I guarantee that. Anyway we wanted to get to the beach. The water was beautiful, but only swimmable/jetski-able the first couple days.
On the 8th we had our first beach day. Water was absolutely beautiful. It's winter and the avg temp is 80. Don't know if I like Cancun or Hawaii beach water more. Probably Cancun cuz it's 60 degrees in Hawaii now. Reminded me of Miami how you could walk out pretty far and still be only waist deep.
The 9th we went to Playa Del Carmen, a shopping district walked the beach and then "5th Avenue". Doesn't compare to the shopping you get on 5th Ave where I live in NY, but plenty of stores just the same. That day it poured down rain but was still fun. Where I got the picture in my poll...
The 10th we went on a tour of Mayan pyramids and cenotes. Chichen-Itza
The 11th we just drove around the island lagoon from Punta Cancun on down.
The 12th was our last beach day. The surf was washing beautiful shells onshore, but as I found, it was also moving boulders. Also that day there was a beach wedding which got washed out by a rogue wave.
The 13th we made the Mexican government aware that we were leaving and they moved to drop the flag to half staff.
morning water aerobics
me getting plastered
wife getting plastered
those french fries were good...
never cared to get on a Jet-ski before this day
statue on top of hotel at Punta Cancun
Workers climbing up a Mayan Pyramid to continue restoration
Some Mayan crafts

The wall that should've stopped the wedding party from getting soaked...
And you see the girl in the water, the barrier is over her head...
If the waves are strong enough to wash this ashore...
dry
wet
Since the bride and groom are soaked already, why not enjoy it?
which bathroom would you use?
Mexican beer
lowering flag (really due to a tear in it)
