Not sure if there are any other NPR listeners on DGrin, but one of my favorite segments is a weekly spot called "This I Believe." Every week someone (sometimes famous; most oft not) gives a short statement on some core belief they hold dear. The audio essays are sometimes both insightful and inspiring.

This week's was on jazz basist Christian McBride's belief in "being cool." I liked it so much that I've quoted him in my sig. Anyway, if you're looking for some pondering, have at it. :D

I listen to NPR everyday (usually while driving) but I've never heard the "What I believe" segments. mmmhhh ... probably comes on when I change to Rush.

Good essay. I figured that one out a while back--I realized all the energy & time I was wasting on getting mad at everyone & everything could be better spent elsewhere (like photography for example). So, I don't bother with getting worked up; yeah I'll comment on (or curse at) the frequent idiot drivers, but let it go & move on. I also refuse to own a cell phone, pretty much for the reasons he outlined; I *like* to be inaccessible for a while & if you want to talk to me, call the landline at home.

BTW, I'd much rather listen to Christian's music (KJAZZ) than Rush's rants. Helps keep cool. :D
