Thanks Randy , Iwas trying to get in close enough to catch facial expressions and at the same time catch action causing those expressions it is tough when they flop over in a split second

    wrestling
I just started shooting wrestling for my kids wrestling club...tough at times, mostly with the ref moving right between me and the wrestlers..lighting is tough at times...I try to focus on faces...shoot a little wider, gives more room to crop.

    great shots!

I noticed that you have the 50mm 1.8 lens, which is one that I've been looking at specifically for wrestling, so I'm curious as to why you didn't use that lens for this event? Is there something I should know about why this isn't a great wrestling photography lens?
But He says to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. -2 Cor 12:9

I did not have it when I shot these pictures , That said the 50mm would
be good if you can get up on th emat edge or fairly close. A 85mm might give you more options
