I don't know how skinnable vBull is, but the thing I use most in working these forums (did I mention that I hate web forums? Yes, I realize that getting this many people to install an NNTP client is not gonna happen...) is the New Posts In Thread icon, the little tiny thing to the list of the post title.
Because it is so little and tiny (which is partially because it's graphical and therefore won't scale, and my laptop is a 1400x1050 14" panel), it's hard to hit.
An easy minor improvement -- since it's clear that the icon is bigger than the graphic -- might be to pull out that icon (http://dgrin.com/images/buttonsDefault/firstnew.gif), and give it a background that's non-transparent -- or at least a white outline -- around its 15x15 pixel space. That would make it much easier to hit with the mouse., I think.
