Looking for some feed back- Car Pics

I posted these in field and street and only received one comment with 80 views:dunno

This is the style I have chosen to shoot automotive shows or auctions due to limited space and my thoughts of cars being identifiable by specific sections/parts.

Please let me know your thoughts on the style and the shots. All taken Jan 21st at Russo and Steele Auto auction

I think they're all fantastic. You do indeed have a knack for photographing a small, but very identifiable piece of the car. I think I was able to identify all of them

As for more comments: I think there's just too many shots here. If you're looking for some specific technical comments, less is more.

Good exposure and great color. The jag might be slightly under exposed.

Nice use of diagonal lines - great feeling of movement with stationary imgaes. Like the raindrops in the last image.

Hi there Anwmn1, I totally have no clue when it comes to cars, as long as they can get me fron A to B and don't cost a fortune to run I'm happy

I like #9 the fuel cap, the angles you took your shots on look really good.

I like the style very much. My personal favorite is the Dart. Beautiful color, sharp and you captured the quirky graphics that identify that quirky car. Swinger, please, could have been grocery getter. Nice work.

I understand the concept of less is more and will be sure to remember that next time.
All of them? Wow that is pretty good- some are pretty obvious but you didn't think #8 is a Mach 1 Mustang did you (its not) and if you know what the gas cap goes to then you are indeed VERY good!

Jag is a tad dark but I like the color around the headlight in it.

Thank you Skippy. Indeed all of these cars are pretty old 50's, 60's, and 70's and in my opinion the best years of the auto industry. The fuel cap is one of my favorites as well.

Deano- thanks for the post. I will have to see if I have any more pictures of the dart for you. This one had a little bit of "work" done to it. If you went shopping in this one,the eggs would be scrambled when you got home!

comment still stands though, the other 6 were almost too easy - you know your cars, and it shows in the photos. any other photographer wouldn't know the key features of those cars.

Ohhh, do you have more shots of the '70 Cuda? Or the firebird?

You got me with the fuel cap...I have a couple guesses, but I do know it's not a mustang.

Nice shots! It's been too long since I've been to a car show. I prefer the hot rods and musclecars to concept cars. I was going to go to the Washington Auto Show...but I mixed up my days and I should have gone today... http://www.washingtonautoshow.com/

Ohhhh, I've been going crazy! The one with the castle? Isn't that a beetle-esque little car? I can't for the life of me remember what it is and it's driving me crazy. It a two word name.....ahhh

Indeed- mustang is what most would guess due to the color and pretty much identical front ends with the..... AMX Javelin.. If you look at it again you can make out the name on the engine hood. The fuel cap is from a 69 Charger, made famous from the Dukes of Hazzard, and is located on the driver side rear deck.

Most of the other were pretty obvious.

I didn't post any Firebird shots- are you referring to the Olds 455? I did get a couple shots of a Trans AM though-




Your other post about the beetle was correct. It was a VW Beetle IO believe a 66'. The one thing I really need to do better is document the year and makes of all the cars. I guess I just get to giddy taking the pictures and looking at them.

Shows are very tough because of crowds, barriers, and bad lighting. Those are the reasons I shoot like this and it is fun to see if I can stump my dad and friends.

Nope, not the olds. It was the trans am, that I saw in your album, but thought you posted here. (The firebird on the hood makes me always call them "Firebirds".) My grandfather has an '89 GTA with less than 30K original miles. I'm slowly trying to convince him to let me buy it, he still likes to drive it as a "toy" though. I have a picture of me driving it on my 16th birthday somewhere.

Also, that reminds me...do you know the year of the pink caddy? That shot of it with the palm tree and blue sky is awesome!

The Cadillac is a 59'. The guy owns a top notch upolstry shop in town. His boys are into the tuner cars so he pretty much covers everything- original to custom. The shot is from a parking lot car show that runs every Saturday. It has been a while since I have been out there- think it is about time I get out there again.

30K miles- that is pretty amazing. I don't know how people can do that. Either they really do not enjoy driving or the have unbelievable self restraint.

Definatly! I'd love to see more.

Well, it started out as my grandmother's car. She also had an '86 firebird that she drove around most of the time. The '89 is the 20th anniversary edition and has been garage kept and driven in nice weather only. In the early 90s the headliner of the white firebird started coming down and grandma had had enough of driving a "fast" car everyday, so the firebird was sold and she adopted one of my grandfather's cadillacs. My grandfather was trading in his caddy every two years, so he just kept one for her and bought a new one for himself. Eventually the GTA became too much car for grandma and grandpa adopted it. It's still garage kept and it gets out on nice weekends for baths and trips to the store to pick up much needed soccer game watching beers. Grandpa looks tres cool in a deep red GTA with the t-tops off and his golf hat on.
