I was out walking the dogs this afternoon and happened to spy a couple RC planes twirling about in a park about a half-mile away. There was time only for a couple quick captures:
Airliner on approach to Dulles, yellow RC plane doing a hammerhead stall, and "wonder bread" RC flier warming up for takeoff.

Interesting repair job on the plane in the second picture. Looks like a very bad landing/mid-air occured during a previous flight.

Great shots, that first one is awesome - a perfect sharp exposure
(what did the dogs do while you were shooting? )

Ah, I'm pretty sure I've been to the RC airfield you were at, back in a former life when I was an RC flier myself.
Nice shots, those colors really look great in the sunshine.

This is even bigger, and, in my opinion, quite cool.

No license is required, but they require real skill to fly. Smart people learn to fly little styrofoam jobbies first. Stupid people with no experience spend big bucks on a warbird like a Corsair and destroy it first time out, which is what one guy did recently, according to one of the pilots there yesterday.
Love that Tomcat vid!
Ohhhhhh wow they look great...... my uncle builds and flys these type of planes, and his son does also, he has a couple of Choppers that he enjoys flying.
I remember one time Uncle Ron built a huge Glider with a massive wing span, they went out to do the test flight, took it to the cliff edge, the plane was released ... and yep you guessed it.... it didn't fly it went down the cliff and smashed at the bottom.
He used to travel extensively to fly in comps with his many planes.
Thanks for the memories Harvey ... Skippy
