The big fellow brought his head out of the stable door in the cool frosty air.

Great capture. I love the condensation of his breath. I can feel the coldness. The picture is sharp and the black background accentuates the colors.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks everyone for your comments as to the mane being a little soft I did not carry out too much sharpening on this image as I wanted to retain some softness in the mane hair. I find too much sharpening tends to make this type of hair look too course. Not sure about the lighter area unless it was because of the very harsh morning light.

sorry limey-g I didin't explain myself more...what I was wondering about is there looks to be a lighter shade of black around the horses ear and neck i just wondered if you had dodged it there, or if you had just softened all around the head!

    Beautiful shot...Just curious is all!:D

I see what you mean. It looks almost like some of the mane was desaturated and is grey instead of chestnut.

Nice clear shot, love the breath! This fellow has a nice chestnut color and wonderful brown eyes. :)

I think he maybe "blacked out" some of a stall wall and just couldnt get super close to the mane ears and forelaock. he looks like a nice Old horse.

By accident the image I uploaded was not the final version and in checking there was a little lightness around the ears and mane.
The completed version I printed off did not have that.
    Thanks for looking
