Great Granddaughter

I've never considered myself a portrait photographer, which I'm not, but I have made the decision to get into it. Luckily, I have willing family members who will let me practice so bear with me. Here are my first attempts.

This is my great granddaughter, one of four great grandkids, who just turned one year old. Both of these images are from the same shot. The first is the full-frame version and the second is a cropped version. I like the composition of the second a little better, but like the story the grander view of the basket gives in the full-frame version. Your opinions please?

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

    Very nice captures
The magenta looks a little too strong in these.....can really see it in the fingers. Nice light and comp.

    Hey Dixie,

Your lighting ratio is great and bang on. Beautiful child.

Two things I would consider -
Raising your lights to get higher catchlights &
buying a new backdrop because this one is really dated. (whether it is new or not, muslin has got to go, IMO!)

Thanks. The background is a stone fireplace and I used a blue filter on a background flash. I used two flags to to keep the light from the main and fill from hitting the background.
