Not very often one of my daily photo's gets as many views and comments as this one, so I figured I'd share it with everyone here as well:

This one works better without too much background or info. Enjoy it the way you see it. Comments welcome. :D

Nice! The cute puppy keeps this from being a scary shot...but take away the dog .... and the b/w makes it very horror-movie-esque! Cool shot!

FYI: Maxx is no puppy. He's 15 years old! nod.gif

And I have a few shots of just the door. I was down there changing the angle and messing around for a few shots, but it was just boring (to me). Until Maxx came looking for me... that gave it the final accidental touch.

In my mind's eye, after reading the thread title but before seeing the picture, I saw sunlight streaming through a small window into an otherwise dark basement. The door, stairwell, and (especially) the dog were unexpected. I don't know why that is, but there it is. :D

I really like this shot Eric. It has so many elements that seem to work together. The light raking across the door. The light stripe on the wall. The dog in the lower right corner. Enough blackness in the forground to be forboding. Nice blacks and whites too.

It's funny isn't it that we wander around looking for subjects, and overlooking what is all around us.

Very nicely done. Simple, clean, and very effective.

SMart dog...I wouldn't go down there either. I live in Texas where we don't have basements. I've always thought that if I did have one...I don't think I'd go down there too often. eek7.gif
