Eagle on a stick photography

Hi y'all,

When our eagle in Viera was making regular scheduled visits to THE TREE you got to take hundreds of shots of her. The problem was that at the end of the day you had hundreds of shots of three poses

profile right
126169845-O.jpg

profile left
126169853-O.jpg

full face
126169852-O.jpg

When you got home you then spent hours looking at the hundreds of shots of the three poses at 100% to find the sharpest shot of the three poses. Then you had to decide whether to keep the other "lesser" shots or to flush hundreds of fine but duplicative eagle shots. :eek1

After awhile you got expert at waiting for a change from the three poses

a fluffy shot, click, click, click

she's leaning forward!!!! click, click, click
126169846-O.jpg

she's doing her stretching exercises!!! click, click, click
126169863-O.jpg

126169867-O.jpg

She's getting ready to fly!!!!!!

actually she was getting ready to relieve herself. :(:

Eagle on a stick photography ain't as easy as it looks.

You know those shutters do wear out.

Nice series Harry. Always enjoy the eagle shots. I hope this one sticks around for another week and a half at least.

I know that feeling...but unfortunately the osprey flight shots are all different enough I feel I have to keep all 500 of them...and post process them all.

I think sometimes it's easier to have the 3 pose birds. If it's a perched bird...I try and limit my shots to a handful of slightly different once. Flight shot...well that's a different story.

Thanks Gale. Its hard to hit that delete button on an eagle shot but how many profile right shots of an eagle on the same tree does the world really need? biggrinbounce2.gif

Just kidding, Harry. You have an embarassment of riches there. Those are all killer eagle shots. Great shooting.

    Hey Mike,

That's why I prefer pro bodies (lots more clicks in them). Nothing is easy. When I review the shots and start culling I keep seeing little differences in each of the shots that cry out, "I'm different from the rest keep me"!!

Thank you very much Curtis. I was very, very lucky at the end of lst year. That eagle started perching on the same spot at just about the same time every day. Better year she wasn't bothered by people. clap.gif

Thanks Jim but I had a around 500 shots from the various days I caught her posing. With MI iV coming up I had to amke some room on the hard drive.

Thrilled that you came out that storm OK. As soon as I saw where it had hit I was thinking of you.
