January Fishing in BC

Fly fishermen in these parts can have a hard time coping with winter. Lakes and rivers are covered with ice for 4 months of the year leaving us only with our families, our jobs, skiing and hockey. I happen to have all four, even so, going such a long time without fishing isn't easy. Me and a friend heard about the Bowron River and how it doesn't freeze over south of Bowron Lake, which is part of the famous canoe chain. We just had to try it. Gear in the truck we headed east on a highway blanketed with 12 inches of snow on the road and more blowing horizontaly. My friend insisted that it would clear up and it actually did, but when we discovered a severe lack of fish, as in zero caught all day, it was all I could do to keep from turning the fishing trip into a photgraphy trip - and I did for the most part, except for a few shots I think turned out okay.
