I had an overnight stop in Madrid last night. It was dark when I got there, but I went out anyway with mini-tripod at the ready. It's a great place for night photos as nearly every building is lit up with millions of watts of lighting. Some energy going to waste that's for sure. Here's what I got, all with a Canon 350D and 17-85 F4 IS, some handheld...
#1 Near to the Fuerte de Neptuno (Fountain of Neptune)
#2 Palacio Real
#3 Palacio Real again
#4 Somewhere in the old town
#5 Catedral de la Alanudena
Madrid has the most amazing airport terminal I've ever seen. The ceiling is made of thousands of slats of wood bent in fantastic curves. Worth a visit just to crawl about and take pics. I was a bit rushed but could have spent all day in there...

Madrid has some great Architecture, you just don't see work like that in new towns, I think that style of Architecture has much more character than some of those modern buildings they slap together.
Nice to see they light up the buildings beautifully at night, makes for good night shots like you managed to capture
That ceiling at the airport is pretty amazing isn't it.
Great series of images you've shared here today .... thank you
