Barrier Islands Of Virginia

......uninhabited, un-screwed up by man, these pristine islands are constantly changing and altering their appearance. Just a few yards off the beach this tidal pool is the picture of tranquility but the violence that created the scene is clearly evident.

    ......Several of the islands are owned by the Nature Conservancy so there is no tresspassing on the interior sections but you can legally walk the tidal area. This means arriving at low tide .....which in itself is problematic in the local backbays which are very shallow. My purpose in visiting is always the same: fishing, however my camera goes too.
    ......The Ocean meets the Forest here, there are no protective dunes.....this makes for an interesting place. I call this photo "Transitions"
