Vista and Canon

I can't seem to import pictures from my Rebel XT in Vista. I installed the latest WIA driver for XP. My camera is recognized and listed in scanners and cameras, but my only choice when I connect the device it to use the Document scanning wizard, which of course doesnt work. Importing in Photoshop doesn't work either.:scratch

What happened to the camera wizard?
Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? I almost want to say that Vista thinks my camera is a scanner.:dunno
What software can I use to quickly import hundreds or thousands of pictures?

I'm guessing you don't have a card reader? Simple drag and drop is the easiest way to move files period. Can you set the XT (I don't have one) to present itself as a usb drive when plugged in (this is in the settings menu of my camera)? Then you can just drag and drop the files by accessing the camera from "My Computer."

I used to be able to do it that way in XP... Vista... notsomuch. I know I have a card reader around here somewhere, just don't remember where. I'll give that a try instead. Thanks.

Hmm - I'm not sure why that would be the case.

Lots of software vendors are going to find small functions that don't work with Vista (iTunes anyone) now that Windows does not always run in "root" (administrator mode). It doesn't seem to be on the surface that this change would be related to your issue, but who knows.

What I don't understand is that Vista was used widely in beta for ~2 years (more than 6 months in RC status) prior to it's official release. I'm not sure why so many of these large companies (Apple, Canon?) weren't putting out solutions the day Vista went live.
