oooh, Gary got a new toy. :ivar I think you're right, once you get the hang of this lens, you'll be great. I'm jealous. (and, as always, I love the muddy rugby players:D )

Wow! That is one fierce looking game! #4 looks a bit...ah...dangerous and potentially painful! Love the action in #5 and #6, and #8 looks like a classic sort of shot. Looks like you're off to a great start with your new lens! Congrats!

    Gary,
You got some nice rugby shots!

Number 5 doesn't look like ended well for the Emmet Windows guy. rolleyes1.gif

Great faces in number 6. Number 9 has lovely focus and light, but are the stripes blue or white? In some images they seem to be a very pale blue and others they're a bit darker blue.

The light looks really harsh which is hard to handle on pale skin/white jerseys. I think you did good and congrats on the awesome new lens!wings.gif

I presume these were taken this weekend, you could not have had better weather for trying the lens out. As ever, great shots but there seems to be some blue colour cast in 7-10 on my monitor.

    Cheers

Great shots. That 300/2.8 is just magical, isn't it? It really blurs out the background so much more than a 200/2.8 and really helps an image snap at you. Why oh why did I ever sell mine...

Have fun with the lens, and you might want to join a gym and work on upper-body strength. :D

You captured some really great action there, Gary. I'd last about five minutes at rugby before I had something torn or dislocated. rolleyes1.gif

For a while now, I've had the itch to switch out my 300 4 for the 300 2.8. Tests I've seen indicate they are close in resolution. But I think you really see the difference with a converter on. And there's a significant difference in the quality of the backgrounds.

Now if I could just find one at a good price!
