Queen Mary 2 and the Golden Gate Bridge Feb. 4

Ed and I hit gridlock, bumper to bumper traffic as soon as we hit the great highway. It was a beautifully warm day, altho very very hazy. After many problems with cars trying to find parking spots on both sides of a narrow road, people running across the road without looking, people hanging on cliffs, seeing cars parked all along the Marin Headlands, seeing mobs of people on the bridge, we finally inched our way to Crissy Field.
The Queen was late, but here's the first peek behind Fort Point.
Nicely centered between Fort Point and the first "upright" of the bridge...
Getting closer and closer...
I could not believe the amount of people who showed up on Superbowl Sunday...
And a guy holding a British Flag on a powerboat welcomes the Queen Mary
Of course I have many, many more photos, but I'll spare everyone. I had a difficult choice with post processing -- saw many photos over processed with a blue sky that didn't exist. I decided to stay truer to the hazy air we had.
They said there was only 30 feet between the Queen and the bottom of the Golden Gate Bridge. She leaves today... very short stay.

And what a welcome - imagine trying to navigate through all of those little boats - must feel like the Bouvier that lived with a houseful o Yorkies - looked under his foot before stepping every time.
We saw the QM2 in Saint John this fall - did not realize that she was in until I saw her from across the harbour. Then I watched a show about taking her in for repairs to a huge dry dock in Europe - no room for error in that navigation I tell you.
Thanks for sharing these Dee - quite the sight!

I really wanted to go...but decided to sit on my ass and watch the Super Bowl.
I was planning on hitting up Fort Baker on the opposite side of the bay....o well......looks like you did good. I like angle you got with a row of people watching.

Hi Dee.......... that must have been an amazing sight to see
I've walked and also rode a bike over the Golden Gate Bridge, and I remember how high it was.
Just a 30ft clearance between the ship and the bridge gawwwd that's cutting it fine isn't it ..... lucky there wasn't a 30 ft swell in the bay hu
Bet it was amazing to see the Queen in all her glory, and to see her pass successfully under the bridge would have been awesome to see too
Great post Dee ......... Skippy
