Slideshow software?

I'm a gimp fan (i.e.free=great:D) who was recently blown away by one of those wedding slideshow productions...I want to give it a shot.

Can someone point me to a program that allows photo placement as more than fades/eases in and out in the center of the screen?

Oh yeah, a free program please. Just wanting to test the waters, not jump in.

You didn't mention an operating system. If windows, Microsoft Photo Story is very nice and free. Also see this and this.

They have a demo version that you can try out.

I'm working my way through the demo of proshow. Is there a way to make photos move (ease, pan, etc) in the program? I like the ability to size the photos, drag and drop, and the timeline feature, but can't seem to find a way to manipulate the photos' movement across the screen.

Not in that version, you have to go up to the ProShow Gold version for that.
