Hi there, Yesterday I took to the beach to test Canon's 1DsMk2 coupled with 100mm-400mm Canon "L" lens, demonstrating focus speed and accuracy, colors and image resolution. Enjoy the beach bird-life on a windy day. Also please be free to visit our web-site highlighting a series of digital equipment tests, and thousands of other images of interest. I have provided a starting point link as follows:

As you know with SmugMug the "More Photo Details" button will give the facts about the taking of the picture as displayed. Notice that the programmers have not updated their system to account for Full Frame (FF) imagers, as with the 1DsMk2 there is no focul length multiplication factor.

However the f5.6 is the reason for the shallow depth of field. Thanks for the kind remaks. Go to the site and see many other shots, over 20,000 actually.

This is equipment talk - great tools of the trade make room for best creativity
I have been experimenting with the AlServo mode with the 1DsMk2, which has an incamera settings of 1 thru 4, Custom Function 20, with #4 being very fast. It appears that the auto-focus mechanism of this camera matches the 1D-Mk2 as to focus speed, however the FrameRate is 4fps, rather than 8fps. In any event I am very impressed with the camera's ability to lock onto moving subjects, like the birds in flight. Another cool feature is when reviewing the images, the auto focus point is superimposed on the thumbnail image, so one can notice exactly where on the subject the autofocus was locked onto, after the shot.
