Hi Richard - welcome! But this is posted in the wrong forum, it should be in "Field and Street". This one is for the challenges - the current challenge topic is "human body". Not to worry, I'm sure a moderatoor will move it shortly so you can get the right feedback.

Anyway, I find myself interested in nighttime architecture, I think it gives old buildings a cool look. This is a good attempt, especially for your first dSLR shot. I think I might step back a bit and get more of the facade in the frame; it may help to have the base of the building showing.

    Hope you keep posting!

The orange lighting looks cool. I personally think a couple of change would help the shot. Open up the composition, give me more of a sense of location, of context, while putting the important bit in a strong place in the frame (rule of thirds.) Also, the best time of day to shoot this would be around dawn or dusk, so you could get a wee bit of lovely blue color in the sky, while still preserving the night feel of the shot.
    Sid.
