Luggage Tags

wmstummewmstumme Registered Users Posts: 466 Major grins
I really like the luggage tags. The instructions which remind people that there is going to be a hole/slot placed in the picture are clear. However, is there any way that the hole could be displayed on the crop screen when someone is purchasing the item?

Would just make me more comfortable to see exactly where and on which end the hole is going to be placed.

For example, thinking about getting some of the following photo done for my daughter's team--I think the photo will work well as a bag tag--but need to make sure the hole is on the left side.

Thanks.

I'll see if that's possible, I do not know.. BUT the thing for you to do is be sure and use PROOF DELAY so that if the crop is not correct, YOU can fix it :)

Good idea. Which side is the "default" hole side? That would let me figure out if the crop is going to be correct.

Thanks for the super quick response.

    Andy:

Just got the bag tag back, and the hole was on the RIGHT side. Also, there is a black border on the right, top and bottom--doesn't show that on the example in your catalog.

Here's a shot of what it looks like (yes--probably about the worst capture ever posted on dgrin--but it shows what I'm talking about...)

    130987547-S.jpg

This one is actually looks okay the way it is, no need to reprint. This one is just going to be a sample (until my daughter steals it--guess she can do advertising too...) But I've got some interest from a couple of teams on making these and I just want to make sure how to expect everything to come out. I'll adjust my photo arrangements to match the setup--just want to make sure I know what to anticipate. Appreciate any more specifics on what the setup will be each time.

PS: Would prefer no border if possible.

    Thanks

    Hello Will,

My name is John and I am a repsresentative from EZ Prints.

From looking at your capture, which by the way tells a great story thumb.gif, it seems as if our QA department was unsure as to whether or not you wanted any of the image cropped out and added borders so as to make sure the entire image displayed on the luggage tag. I do not think this is the default. I'll speak with our QA team to find out what the default is and will post back to this thread.

    Be back at ya...

I bought about a dozen baggage tags as stocking stuffers for Christmas. About a third of them came back with a black border and the rest came back full tag coverage. I got them just before Christmas, so there really wasn't any point or opportunity to address the situation.

I know that I cropped most of the photos so I can't say for sure whether the edge was due to the reduced image size (the resolution should not have been an issue).

I would also be interested to know whether this was due to something I did when I placed the order.

Border or no border, I thought the tags looked great and they were a real hit at Christmas. But it would be nice to know for future orders whether there will be a border or not (can we tell on the preview?)

Send the order# to us at the help desk, and we'll investigate... reference this thread please, too.

    Thanks!

Make your image equal to the dimensions here:http://www.smugmug.com/prints/photo-luggage-tags
show me before hand, and I'll approve it then you can order. We'll follow up with some extra attention at the lab.

    Hello Will,
Yes, we did hear back from the lab. It seems that this was an internal error that was not caught by QA. The lab is now acutely aware of this issue and we believe they have corrected the problem that led to this issue.

As Andy mentioned earlier, we will gladly reprint these tags for you. Just send a email to the help desk, citing your order number. Or, just reorder the tags with borders and send the help desk the new order number. We will void all charges for this reprint order.

Our apologies and we thank you for bringing this issue to our attention thumb.gif

    Hello there...

I apologize for the late reply.

I spoke with our QA department about the way in which we produce these tags. We will always try to place the hole to the left of the image, or the top. This placement depends on the orientation of the image. If we are unable to use the left side of the image, then we will place the product on hold and let the customer know of the change in hole placement, and if they would like to continue with the order.

I hope this answers your questions. If you have any other questions about our products, please do not hesitate to ask...

    Cheers,

Thanks for looking into this. I also appreciate the info. I'm going to take Steve and Andy up on the offer for the reprint--and I'll let you know how they come out.

    Thanks again.
