Buenos Dias,
quick background. I am currnetly in South America on a around the world budget trip. I recently switch to a digital SLR (canon Rebel xti) which was stolen but luckily I was able to replace it with a new one from the US along with a Tamron AF 18-200mm 3.5-6.3 XR Di II Aspherical [IF] Macro Standard Zoom Camera Lens for Canon EOS, Hoya 62mm UV Filter. I have a spare battery and a few san disk ultra II one gig CF.
I have a friend who is coming back to Lima soon and I could have a few accessories shipped to he to bring to me. I am thinking of getting maybe a monopod, a canon 50mm II lens, along with some more CF cards from amazon. maybe a remote and possibly a flash unit. If you could give me any advice on which accessory is a must or recommend another accessory, i.e. filters, I would greatly appreciate it. I want to spend no more than $500 and space is somewhat of an issue.
Cheers

well i ended up getting more memory cards from amazon, San disk 2gig ultra II for $38?, and i got a canon 50mm lens (the inexpensive one) and a remote. i also got a canon monopod, but after doing a little more research i should have gotten a tripod.
That's a nice list of goodies!
I think you'll find the monopod a handy addition though.
