Hello folks. Just got back from the MI4 shoot. 9 days of sun up to sun down shooting. What a wonderful time. Despite some crappy weather early on, a good time was had by all. Met a lot of good people and excellent photogs. Shot on average 3 gigs a day ...hmm times 9 days.. so let's see.....that's about 27 gigs of pics. Guess that was pretty productive.
It will take me months to weed through and process all of these. Heck....I'm still working on my shots from last year (MI3) :biglaugh:
Here are a few I worked up quickly last night. Need some more PP....but you get the idea.
All with 200mm at ISO 800 (I don't flash birds..although fill would have been nice.) No NR applied.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Nice shots.

Thanks. I guess I shouldn't have said her Mother had chicken legs and her Dad was a turkey.

Thanks for taking a looksee. Pretty close. Maybe 8'-10'. Get the feeling some here think I climbed a 100' tree with camera clenched in my teeth and crawled out on a limb for these. Sorry..didn't mean to mislead anyone. Figured most would realize these were taken at a raptor rehab center (show). You don't get that close in the wild. These were just about full frame. Did minor background removal with slight crop.

Thanks for the kind words, Susan. I think I have a good copy of the 200mm :ivar I assure you it's not the eyes that are sharp. Little to no cropping on these. The eagle was only about 8'-10' away. Unfortunately...these were taken at the Orlando raptor rehab center, and not out in the wild. Maybe next time.
I shot at ISO 800 because of the poor lighting. I was unable to use my tripod as the other shooters had already set up in the front row. I had to shoot from behind and inbetween them. Hand held is fine..but would have prefered to use the tripod. Fill flash would have worked well also, but I don't like flashing the birds..especially that close. Tough shooting with the shadows and bright patches of sunlight peaking through the trees.

Thanks Ian. No heavy crop on these. Almost full frame. These were taken at a raptor rehab center in Orlando. The group that joined Harry to shoot them were only 5'-10' away. I was in the back with my 200mm (trying to get some space).

After a bit, I realized that you'd shot at the center. What a great set of shots!
Wow!
Thanks Jen. Yes...it was quite a show they put on at the rehab center. Wish the eagle would have stayed a bit longer. They need to build a realistic perch for the birds to sit on...with a good background. That would have helped. Perhaps studio lighting next time.

Thanks Jim. Was good to spend some time with you and Kathy at dinner. Always enjoy your adventure stories. Wasn't sure on the spelling of the wife's name. I had an ex that spelled it with a "K"...and have a lil' sis..that spells it with a "C". These women need to get it simplified...and PICK ONE. You don't see us swapping "c"s and "k"s. Mike....Mice.
