I stopped by Crush on the way home last night. It is a local exotic wine / cigar pub. The bartender received one rose and placed it in a vase near a mirror. I noticed and asked if she would mind if I went out and got the camera. I ended up getting a few photos with her included as well as the owner and another patron. I was just playing around a bit. These were shot without flash and with the 50mm f/1.4. Played with different points of focus in the first few. Comments welcome.

Nice series!! really like the way you shift the focus point. Gives it a very romantic Valentine's Day feeling! I know, corny, but it is what it is!! ne_nau.gif

    Thank you Rhuarc,

I was thinking the same thing, that it worked well for Valentine's Day.

I like the fifth one, so I dressed it up a bit. Brightness and a little saturation.

Thas was the one I liked the best too, did you ask that girl to pose, or did she just happen to be at the right place at the right time? Beautiful girl either way! clap.gifclap.gif

Actually, I was just sitting there enjoying a glass of wine and a young guy surprised her with the rose. It was put in that vase and on the counter in front of the mirror. I noticed a photo op and asked if she would mind if I brought the camera in. I went down to my truck and grabbed it. I took the first shot of the rose then asked if she would mind if I photographed her with the rose. She was very easy going and allowed me to get a few shots. I am going to get one printed for her and just drop it by.

    Thanks again for the comments.

the guy in number 6 reminds me of a guy in a video of a skapunk band named sublimes song , which i will not mention here, it may be a bit inappropriate.

    nice photos though.

I like the first... as an interesting still life.

I like the second one's concept... sharp rose & blurred receipient... with a slight smile???
But I like the position of the rose to the receipt in 5 better.

I think both 2 & 5 would have had an interesting variation (not sure it would have been better or worse) with just a little more dof... maybe one stop... p.s. like 3 & 4...

Also, like the concept with the couple in the background clearly portrayed & the softer rose(love) in the foreground.

All in all I like the series.
    I take lots of pictures--sometimes I make a photograph.
