My name is Samantha and I'm 16. I would love some comments on some of my pictures as I will take them into consideration for my portfolio to get into a good college. I have room to grow and I would like to someday become fabulous! haha. Please be very critical as I am not afraid of any comments, just make them detailed. Thank you!

Samatha...first and foremost...Welcome. It's great to see a young photographer with a passion for taking pictures.

First read read read all you can on apeture and shutter speed - its very important to know exactly how the two work together.

I think your pictures look ok. The first two have some camera shake...so the pictures are a little blurry.

Welcome aboard...I think you'll learn a lot here on this forum.

Welcome to DGrin! Out of the ones you psoted I like this one the best.

There i something about it that I would change, but I'm not quite sure what that is. I can't tell if it is the crop factor, or what it is. If you were going for a shot that has the sillhouetted (sp?) tree and things in the foregreound, I would crop a bit off the bottom and fromt he top to give it a wider AR.

I don't know what it is, something about the wider aspect ration just seems to work better iwht a horizon shot like this.

Anyway, didn't mean to go off like that! :D Hope you enjoy your time here as much as I have mine, and I'm sure you'll learn alot!

Hi Samantha and welcome! I love your positive attitude and that you are making plans for college!! clap.gif As Jim mentioned, you will get double or more responses if you post the shots in the thread. People generally don't take time to go to a link. Also, it would be helpful if you would fill out your profile and list your equipment, lenses, etc. Those wishing to help you can better give you advice if they know what equipment you are dealing with. Also, be very specific about what kind of advice you want, i.e. are you concerned about cropping, exposure, post-processing, etc. Looking at the people shots you posted I like your sense of fun. The shots seem very soft and/or somewhat out of focus. There could be lots of reasons. Are you using a point and shoot or a DSLR? Tripod? Shutter speed may be too slow. The main thing I would work on is getting the eyes as sharp as possible. Even if the person is not looking directly at the camera, the eyes need to be the main focus and be sharp as possible. Take lots of photos and post often.......ask lots of questions .... use the great search tool and read threads pertaining to what you wish to learn...your skills will grow quickly if you do and you will become the awesome photographer you want to be! Most of all, have fun! :ivar

Sam......I checked out your gallery. Love your chickadee shots!! And the daisies. You have great eyes and I like your crops!!!
