Bulk Pricing and Bulk Gallery settings mystery

I know I'm doing something wrong with both bulk pricing and gallery setting because they keep disappearing. Here's what I'm doing:

1. Pricing : on a bunch of Password protected Galleries (for family and friends) I noticed that the pricing was wrong (copied from the galleries I'm selling from). I went into a single gallery, set the price to Smugmug Default for all Products, hit apply (blank fields change to the correct price, hit save, go back in and the fields are blank. If I log out and go to buy the picture, the old incorect price is in the cart. Why isn't the default saved?

2. Bulk Gallery settings: I go to a gallery I'm selling from and input 5 days to delay shipping and some text for backprinting. Then I save a a quick setting. When I apply the quick setting to a bulk of galleries, both settings aren't there.

Thanks for any help.
David

    Hi David,

    Sorry for the trouble!

If you have portfolio pricing in place, you'll actually need to set gallery pricing at $0.01 over SmugMug's default pricing. That way the system knows that you are overriding the portfolio prices. (SmugMug's default pricing in the boxes is the same as having blank/empty boxes).

You can use the quick pricing tool to "increase" by ".01" "all products" to make it fast.

Can you give me a link to the gallery you're making a quick setting from? The backprinting and proof-delay *should* be included in the quick setting, so I'd love to take a look.

Thanks, Anne - that's one I would never figure out. My site is www.kleinpix.com (kleinboys.smugmug.com).

    David,

Sorry I wasn't more clear. I actually need you to point me to the specific gallery you were creating a quick setting from. Ideally, you could post a link to the gallery, like http://www.kleinpix.com/gallery/1481436.

    Thanks!

    Hi Anne,
It's happening with all of them so I know it's something I'm not doing right. For example, I did a bulk copy last night and lost my theme settings in all my galleries. I then took 1 gallery, made sure all the setting were correct (password, private, theme) saved the settings as a quick settings "family passworded", then did a bulk settings, selected the "family passworded", let it rip and the themes were not updated. I had to do it by hand. And I lost my password as well.
Here is a link to a gallery I used as the save as:
    http://www.kleinpix.com/gallery/2121476#109703225
    Thanks.

    Hi David,

Thanks for explaining. From our help page on customizing galleries (http://smugmug.com/help/picture-storage):
"Note: Quick settings do not save gallery title, description, keywords, category, subcategory, or theme."

I deleted your quick setting by the name "family passworded galleries" and created a new quick setting from the gallery you linked me too. I then created a brand-new gallery and applied the quick setting as I created it. Here's the gallery: http://kleinboys.smugmug.com/gallery/2479628 .

It kept the password, and other settings as expected. However, there were no proof days or backprinting set in the gallery you pointed me to: http://www.kleinpix.com/gallery/2121476#109703225 , so none were carried over.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you continue to have difficulty.

    Hi Anne,
So if I understand correctly, the no of days proof , backprinting should be carried over in the bulk copy. Correct? Still a little fuzzy on pricing. If I have a gallery with discount prices (family) and now want to copy in reqular selling prices from another gallery, how can I do this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I'm still really confused. I just realized that I wanted to turn off photo comments, easy sharing and style choice. So I did that and saved it to a gallery. Then I did a quick settings "save below as" to a name("for sale gallery settings"). Then I did a bulk settings and chose the galleries that I wanted to change these 3 settings (I wanted to do it to all the galleries but first did a test with just 2 galleries) and used the quick settings "for sale gallery settings" to apply to the 2 galleries I selected. Not only did it not apply the 3 new settings I wanted, I also lost my proof days and back printing settings. Is there a way to apply some new setting to exsiting galleries? I seem not to be doing this correctly and it's pretty frustrating. Here's a link to the gallery I tried to bulk set (I have since made the setting manually).
