Self Portrait

This is the first time I have ever tried taking any photos of myself.
Seems a little odd to sit in front of the camera. I am trying to learn how to use my new flash so self portrait it is until my son gets home. :)

I took many and this is the only one so far that I kind of like.

I would like to get a good photo of myself to use on my bio page. I like the close up face look, but don't really care for the top of my head being cut off.

What are your thoughts on the photo?

The exposure is bang on, but my initial thoughts are:

    a) look at the camera
    b) lower the camera angle

    :)

Glad to hear the exposure looks ok. I had the camera on manual as I had side light from a window and bounce fill flash from the other direction. Was using a white card reflector and stepping the flash down .5-1.0 steps.

I am so unsure about poses, lol.. :)

I did a few photos looking at the camera and thought they looked funny, but I would guess if it was my son or anyone else I was taking a photo of I would want them to look at the camera too.

Going to see if I can get my son to sit in front of the camera next. :)

    Thanks

The photo would be awesome if you'd follow owen's suggestions. I was gonna suggest the same 2 things. Good job.
I use only Canon cameras and glass

Focus is sharp on the eyes, but I'd like to see a little more depth of field. And +1 on the other comments.

I don't have the nerve to shoot self portraits yet! Photographers are creepy... rolleyes1.gif
