touching up the face

hi all! i'm fairly new at photoshop and im wondering how you can caorrect a face of the person usually in editing where the face of the person is pockmarked and full of blemish. i am looking for a result which will be smooth but still natural looking... any help?? i am really having a bad time with it.. thanks in advance.
