Well, I was just messing around yesterday in my backyard shooting the ubiquitous finches in my yard, but after I came in and loaded the pics, I thought something looked different. Mixed in with the finches, or at least watching from nearby, was this bird.

I thought it was just another finch but I think it may be a Lincoln's Sparrow. Can anybody confirm it?

Also, while looking at a massive amount of waterfowl on a private lake to which I do not have access and the road is too far away to take pics :cry I heard the pecking of a woodpecker. I turned around and snapped this. It's not a very good pic because this guy was fast and highly mobile. I didn't have time to set up the shot, but here you go.

It is a female ladderback woodpecker which are not very common in my area so that is neat that I happened upon her quite by accident. I thought she was yet another downy but it turns out that she is a ladderback. The stripes along the back clued me in.

I am not sure what is more fun, taking the pictures or the anticipation of loading the pictures in your computer to see what you have. :D

I believe it is a Song Sparrow, based on the black spot in the center of its chest. You'll have to catch him when he's singing!
