I just got my hands on an old Promaster FTD 5700 flash unit, and I'm trying to figure out if it is in any way compatible with my XTi. Any information anyone could help me with would be greatly appreciated! I'm not finding too much online, unfortunatley...

http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html doesn't list that exact model, but the other listed Promaster flashes in the 5000 series are all safe (including the 5750). Based on that it should be a safe trigger voltage, although it looks like the ETTL metering functions won't work at all. You'll be stuck on manual mode and guessing the flash brightness unless you have a light meter; I might be wrong about that since it does say that the 5000 series supports TTL, but not specifically the Canon variety.
