trip to the park

As ive said in a few other threads, im not a good photographer. I just dont have the technical skills, yet.

that being said i like to shoot, a lot. anyhoo, this is my first before and after posting. the before is obviously stock, just uploaded to compute rthen to smugmug, then after is after playing arroundin lightroom.

please let me know what you think, not only of sbjest, but composition and what i did in lightroom.

    I like the background better on the first one, it looks more natural, but the tree on the second one looks better. Lets combine those two, shall we? :D

    you know as i look at them im thinking the same thing. grr. this might mean i might have to actually read the instruction pdf that i downloaded with the lightroom trial. grr.

    You picked a good time of day. In the first version, the golden light on the grass is appealing. And the water has a nice color, too.

    I wonder what the shot's about? What were you trying to capture? If it's the water and grass, I think we don't see enough of them and they aren't presented in a way that makes them beautiful. And the tree trunks themselves occupy too much of the frame.

    The idea of framing your subject with the trees is a good one. What works best is when your subject is already interesting, and then you add to the interest with some creative framing. What's missing in your shot is the beautiful thing that goes inside the frame.
