Stormy waves

So we're still having rain showers. After some exploring we wound up at "our" beach. I was playing with an old 35mm film lens on my alpha. This looked great on the LCD, not so great on the computer, but "auto adjust" in curves produced this!

Look closely at the end of the wave near the rocks -- on the left and you'll see a crouching surfer for size comparison.

Very odd lighting, probably not optimal, but I shoot anyway. Who knows what will develop.

Dee, this is real art. I'd put it up on any wall. There's so much going on here and the sky color only adds to the wild conflict of nature. Don't change a thing

    Dee,

Great shot, those rocks are huge and that surfer is crazy. Where was this taken?

    Nice Job

Yesterday I got a call from a friend and fellow photo-shooter that she'd be in San Francisco. She called today on her way to visit me and said the waves at Ocean Beach in San Francisco were wild! When she finally arrived in town I got to show her my everyday shooting grounds... Rockaway Beach is one of them.

I believe there were 7 surfers out that day. Rockaway Beach is for the more experienced surfers. Learners and beginning surfers go to Linda Mar Beach, and some of the other experienced surfers will surf at the Pier. When they get really, really good, they surf at Mavericks down the coast over the hill... now those surfers are really crazy!

    Here's a link: Mavericks http://www.mavsurfer.com/main_page/

I'd love to witness one of those contests, but it's way too crowded and I don't have a long lens. With enough $$$ you can get a reservation to go out on one of the boats :D
