I was talking to a shooter who works for the Red Sox. She said some photographers try to make a point of not shooting plays around second base. Too easy, they thought. Yikes!

With a teleconverter? Or are these heavily cropped? Or were you standing a lot closer than I was the last time I shot a baseball game (with a 300mm lens)?

no tc, min crop....i sit in the 1st row between home & 1st
a 300 is too long for shooting the infield
I would somewhat disagree with you Randy. I use a 300/2.8 a fair amount of the time when shooting the infield. In fact both these games were shot with the 300. Here are a few examples from some INSIDE college baseball from the other night.

I often will add a TC to this combo for tight shots in the infield or capturing some outfield action. I've used a 100-400, 70-200, 100-300 but I think my favorite is the 300/2.8. Just another way to get shots. I happen to have a few friends who consider the 400/2.8 even better. I shoot primarily for sales so I shoot a bit more loose for crops, though these shots are for the SID so I shot them tighter. Just another way to approach the game:D

I think those last couple were from a run down not a squeeze. The runner probably got caught with too big a lead off of 1st.
Sorry, lol, just an avid baseball fan's idiosyncracies coming out!
i think it was a steal gone bad
