Took a day trip to Boston and went to the Prudential Tower Skywalk. Basically the 50th floor of the building is open to get views of the city. It was very overcast and you have to shoot through somewhat tinted windows, but I thought I'd show y'all a few shots of the Hub.
Looking to the east and the harbor, past the glass Hancock Tower - Logan Airport is in the distance. My brother's condo is clearly visible in this shot :wink
To the left of the Hancock you get this view of Boston Common, the State House and the financial district's skyscrapers.
Moving around towards the north is the semi-frozen Charles River with Cambridge on the far side. I guess it's never too cold to go sailing - there were several sailboats plying the unfrozen section of water.
On the near side of the river is the fashionable Back Bay section with its' very photogenic - and expensive - townhouses.
To the west is the Fens section, home to Fenway Park and the Boston Red Sox. It's jammed in there a stone's throw from the Mass Turnpike.
Being an old city (for the US), there's an interesting mix of old and new architecture. I kind of like this view looking down on a smaller modern skyscraper towering over an old church.
Another church, Trinity I think (lower left with the orange roof), is dwarfed by it's surroundings.
On a clear day it's well worth the ticket price, and even with the crappy weather we had a good time - pretty much had the run of the place! If you are in town with an hour to spare, take a trip to the 50th floor. :deal
