Hi all,
hopefully this forum is the right one for sleddog photos. There was a race a couple of weeks ago, and on a perfect winter day too. Everybody was enjoying it, particularly the dogs. They simply couldn't wait to start racing!

Then the races began:

What are you looking at?? :D

Just a fun piccy with a fisheye and the dog's snout an inch from the lens:

Wow! These look amazing Ana. The second and third are truely great. Good use of the backlighting in the second to capture the dogs breath. And look at those tongues flapping around in the 2nd and 3rd. thumb.gif

    Hi Ana
These are great! I've never seen sleds pulled by breeds other than Huskys or husky crosses! Boy those dogs have long tongues!

Beautiful shots, Ana. Thanks for sharing the.

Thanks! Hehe, I know what it is, I just didn't want to freak people out. It's actually pretty harmless, apparently they do it all the time in the fervor of the race.

Thanks, Ann! Oh yes, quite a few different breeds were seen at the race. All of them delighted to pull the sled. :D

Our farm dogs would often bite their tongues when they were excited & were hard at work mustering cattle.

They are some really really amazing action shots ana...thumb.gif really great to see the dogs expressions frozen like that.

Dogs get so excited with sport. Im usually a bit anti-animals for racing etc but with dogs i think they honestly do enjoy the race no matter what it is.

Thanks to all who have commented on my photos and sorry for the late reply! I enjoyed taking these shots a lot, especially after seeing how much the dogs are enjoying the races. I admit I had some reservations before. But the dogs really put my concerns to rest. They love to race! Even if it means biting their tongues in the process. ;)

Yup, just a bit of blood, you can see where he bit his tounge. It happens with horses quite often too.

Great pictures!! Love the blue eyes and that last pic with the fish eye is quite fun . :)

All of these are great photos! Thanks for posting. I always enjoy seeing your photos. Love the profile of the dog with his mouth open against the sky, and the one with the dog's nose almost on your lens!

The Iditarod has started up in Alaska. If you go to their home page, you'll see the standings so far.

Thanks, Skippy! It was a wonderful experience for me, both seeing the dogs in a new light and photographing an event I hadn't photographed before.
