rich56krich56k Registered Users Posts: 547 Major grins
Hi,

Maybe I've missed something, but I am still wondering how/is it possible to download galleries or even some individual images from my Pro Acct? :dunno
(iMac G5 1.6g / 1.25 Ram / 17" / OSX 10.4.8)

Album fetcher is pc/intel mac only.....
SmugDAV not working for iMac G5 either (see API thread)

All I can figure is I have buy my own Digital Downloads??!!
(which I've already done a few times :cry )

any suggestions??
rich56k

ps just picked up my iMac G5 from apple store this AM - second new logic board / power supply / labor free of charge - even 1 year out of warranty! if they would have wanted to charge me I was ready to upgrade to intel iMac dual....
but cant see it now that I'm up and running again $$00

    enough political rambling..... :rolleyes1.gif

I guess at this point I'll cross my fingers for Mr. devbobo and smugDAV,
and continue to buy dig d/loads from myself if need be (not really a bad option - if only for a few pics here & there)

Could this be a future feature request?? hmmm headscratch.gif

For the individual pics, why not just make the gallery private, enable originals (disable protection if necessary) and just save them back to your hard drive.

    Then just reverse the above.

Sorry for the confusion, rich56k, but are you downloading your SmugMug photos because of your computer problems? Why not get an external HDD? Again, sorry if I'm way off here. Just trying to help. :D

    Andrew,

Thanks for your suggestion, that actually accomplishes exactly what
I was hoping to do... thumb.gif :ivar and it's easier than getting out my CC every time rolleyes1.gif (to buy D/Loads)
    Thanks again,
    rich56k
re: entire gallery d/load still a question, but the immediate need was for ind. pics

    Hi yokimbo,

    Welcome to Dgrin!! wave.gifwave.gif
No, the comp probs have been fixed, clap.gif my main reason is I do event pics (m/c racing) and virtually all my sales are to those depicted, and there's a group that for whatever reason won't order thru my site, so they email me the gallery / image # for me to either print/del at next event or mail - my workflow starts with a complete back-up to 2 dvds of all orig ( usually about 1000/event) what I upload is usually about a 100 cropped/tweeked/corrected 'keepers' - so now as I need to print some ind. pics it seemed easier to take the 'keeper' version from my site rather than pull the archive dvd, search out image#, and then try to recreate my 'post' activities to match the 'smugmug version' that they want buy.....(geez I can get to ramblin' sometimes!!) :cry
I appreciate your willingness to help thumb.gif and I should have been more clear as to my needs,

This is just one of the many great things about this forum - the folks that hang out here and the willingness to help one another! iloveyou.gif

    Thanks Again,
    rich56k

    Hi All,

Here's my two cents. Since you are a Mac user (good for you and me) you might want to consider Aperture. It's awesome. My workflow goes something like this.

Import photos from CF card using Aperture. Aperture will allow you to put the photos anywhere you want so I put them on an external drive in their own folder/project. Once they are downloaded, I burn that folder to CD/DVD depending on the size of the project. That CD/DVD goes to the safe. I then use Aperture to sort out the keepers and delete any I don't want to keep in the project. (I do most of my editing on a PowerBook which is why I use the external drive) Aperture is non-distructive and I don't need to keep the originals on line except to edit them. There is also a plugin for Aperture to upload to SmugMug that works great. So, if someone wants me to print one for them, it's available on my external drive through Aperture. There are other programs but so far I'm really liking Aperture.

    Jeff
