A trip to the fish market

On a trip back to Oregon from Vancouver, B.C. I finally had the time and a chance to stop at the Pike Place Market in Seattle Washington. I have wanted to get a picture from the Pike Place Fish Market of them throwing or catching a fish. This is what the market is famous for and I wanted to get a photo.

After a couple two or three misfires I captured this image. My wife asked if I wanted to take more and I said NO I am happy with the one I got.

What do you think?

Anyway, nice capture!! I've been down there quite a bit and never gotten a capture than nice! I guess I'll have to try harder!

That's the beauty of smugmug. You don't have to resize. Once you have the picture uploaded, just go to the picture, then click the medium size. it will automatically resize it, then you can use that image address. You have to enable external linking first thoug...

Every time I've tried linking to photos in my smugmug, it won't do it. I don't see how folks have all created smaller versions just for posting purposes. I don't get it.

I was not able to link to the photo successfully from my Smugmug gallery even using the small size image using the insert image button. I finally resized my image and converted it to a web photo in PS. Then I used the attachment button. I plan on studying further to find what I am doing wrong.ne_nau.gif I had the links button turned also.

OK I think I finally followed directions and made one change that I do not think was mentioned. I HAD TO TURN OFF THE RIGHT CLICK BLOCKING. and then right click on the medium image and select properties and copy the URL. Then I pasted using the Insert Image button.

This is another Image from the Pike Place Market.clap.gif

The last picture was using the yellow box you have highlighted.

The image on my web page is a jpeg, unless smugmug changed it somehow. Right clicking on my image in smugmug and clicking on properties shows jpeg.

(spaces added so dgrin won't act on this)

    step two copied shortcut

    [ IMG ] http://djames-photography.smugmug.com/gallery/ share.mg? AlbumID=2516949 &Page=1&ImageID=132195751 [ /IMG ]
And here is what I get.

Note that when you copied the shortcut in step 2 you copied the wrong one. You got the url for the share images page, not the url for an image off of it. On the page you got to when you clicked shared you'll see something like this:

    132680512-M.jpg

(if you get a page with an email compose window on the right, click the link at the top that says "forums / blogs / etc".)

On that page, copy the url from one of the links like: (link) it all depends on which size you want to embed into the forum.

You should get something that looks like this (spaces added so dgrin won't act on this):

    [ IMG ] http://cabbey.smugmug.com/ photos/132680512-M.jpg [ /IMG ]

Advanced version: after you insert the image link above, copy a larger url and then highlight the entire img link and click the 'insert hyper link' icon (globe with chain links) and paste that in, which will result in something like this (again, with out the spaces):

    [ URL="http://cabbey.smugmug.com/ photos/132680512-L.jpg" ]
    [ IMG ] http://cabbey.smugmug.com/ photos/132680512-M.jpg [ /IMG ]
    [ /URL ]

That way, if they click on the small version, they'll be taken to see the larger version.
