Well, I finally got to my vacation photos - we took this vacation over Christmas and New Years. I have edited these photos on our laptp as I am having a problem with PSP crashing on my desktop, so really do not know if the editing is okay.
Now, about the journey: Isla Soana is a day trip excursion from the Punta Cana resorts. There is a couple of hour bus portion, requiring getting up for the bus by 6 a.m. Then the trip to Soana was by catamaran, the return by speed boat.
From the harbour, catamarans waiting for us:

The other boys in the family:

The island has hammocks for use:

My sandy feet:

You can see a bit of the infecton i had - allergic reaction to bug bites and I ended up with IV treatment, antibiotics, antihistamine and antiinflammatory for week 2.

Despite having been sold this excursion as a snorkelling excursion, and not finding a snorkel in sight, it was a lovely day and a really lovely location. The water is perfectly clear, wonderfully warm and shallow forever.

Hope you enjoyed my tour.

ne_nau.gif Your photography is great. I've heard many "war stories" concerning the DR. Mostly about not venturing away from the "all inclusive resorts". Your snorkel trip and bug bites somewhat make the reports a bit credible.

    Thanks.

The DR has changed a lot in the three years since my last visit. I do not think I liked it as much this time.

But, frankly, the bug bites and my reaction to them could have happened anywhere. Certainly not holding a grudge about that!

Sailboats are fun stuff and I especially like the view from the hammock!

As a born and bred prairie girl, I am amazed at how much I love the ocean, and how it calls to me all the time. Sailing would be a great way to spend a lot of time.

    Thanks Ian.

I think it might be the open expanse of the ocean. Very similar to the
prairie. I totally dig the freedom. But I will say that a 40 foot boat is
mighty big on day one and gets smaller by the day :D
