Is anyone else planning a May trip to Yellowstone? I will be there May 17 thru the 21st. I've only been in the fall so this is going to be a treat for me. If any of you are going to be in the area let me know and I'll pick up the coffee.

    Yellowstone
Have fun over there Albert.....I live Boise as well, but grew up in a small town in Eastern Idaho just about an hour from the west entrance to the park. I have photographed there many times and it just does not get any better than Yellowstone. I could spend weeks in there with my camera!

    Have a good trip.

You bet I will if the weather is reasonable. It can be wierd in the spring I understand. Do you have any recomendations for May in the park. I kinda plan on focusing on Lamar Valley looking for bears with cubs. Any suggestions are welcome.

    Albert,

The last few times that I have seen bears in Yellowstone it was between Old Faithful and Grant Village. That's the road were you cross the continental divide back and forth a few times. Here is a shot that I got this past summer from the road, I did not have a very long lens with me that day unfortunately.

It's really quite amazing to get this close to a wild animal of this size. We were actually closer than that park guidelines allow for bears and in hindsight we should have backed off a bit. I usually pull this shot out once a month and tell my wife that this why I need a white lens!

Thanks for the insite. I could not view your bear images for some reason. Good luck with the wife/white lens thing.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Yes - it is amazing - he would be in complete view one second and then you would have no idea where he was. (That was kind of concerning to me at times as well!) Plus, you were fighting for shooting position with a large crowd of people trying to get the shot as well.
